A tree cutting epidemic

American Electric Power obtained permission to prune trees in my area. These trees are marked for removal.

Contractors knocked on a family's door and advised them that they would be removing the trees, and the family said "No, you are not." The contractors returned when the family was not home and removed their tree.

When the contractors started removing the trees, AEP was immediately contacted. All they had to say was that they were sorry and they must have had a miscommunication with the contractors.

I find it hard to believe that a large electric company like AEP has a hard time communicating prune instead of remove. I also find it hard to believe that anyone can confuse the two terms.

I'm guessing this is far from over.

I've been called a Tree Hugger more than a few times. I've also been told I have a big mouth, so I purposefully went down there at a time that I thought no one else would be there. (I don't want to step on neighbors toes as I do not own my home and if something happens to the house, several other families living in the home will be effected.) I was, of course, wrong and met up with another medium-mouthed, psuedo environmentalist who was also proud of the charm of our neighborhood and a camera man from WVVA who had just finished a live broadcast about the issue. The conversation? At least it is nice to know that I am among the majority that is getting worked up for once.

I was so upset that I even rode my bike down to do photos instead of my car.

"Wild, Wonderful West Virginia" has truly become "Open for Business." Should we thank Gov. WIse for this?
